Riverside County has numerous boards, committees and commissions comprised of appointed members of the public. These appointees act in an advisory capacity to the Supervisor, in addition to acting as the Supervisor’s representatives to other members of the public. Listed below are current vacancies. Solid Waste Advisory Council (1 Primary Vacancy, 1 Alternate Vacancy)
The Solid Waste Advisory Council was established by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in 1981. The role of the Solid Waste Advisory Council includes State-mandated duties of a Local Task Force, making findings, and providing advisory recommendations to the County’s Planning Commission and Board on all substantive waste management issues and solid waste facility land use matters, but also to assist the County and its cities in meeting AB 939 requirements, from the preparation and revision of the Countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan (CIWMP) to reviewing and commenting on solid waste facilities and their expansions for consistency with the CIWMP and recycling goals to the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

Winchester/Homeland Municipal Advisory Council (2 Alternative Position Vacancies)
The mission of the Winchester-Homeland Municipal Advisory Council is to advise the county on matters including, but not limited to, public health, safety, welfare, public works, and planning which affect Winchester, Homeland, and surrounding areas and to assist with creative problem solving, with the goal of growing into a model city.
In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee (1 Vacancy)
Members of the In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the IHSS Advisory Committee is to serve as a liaison for communication between the Board of Supervisors, IHSS Public Authority, Department of Public Social Services, and the consumers/clients and their home care providers in the Riverside County IHSS program. In the course of educating, empowering, and advocating for the IHSS community, it is the committee’s responsibility to seek out input from those participating in IHSS, incorporate their voices in reports to all stakeholders, and recommend ongoing improvements to the IHSS program. The committee's recommendations may be taken into consideration when the Board of Supervisors votes on issues pertaining to this region.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and residents of Riverside County who are current or former recipients of in-home supportive services. Applicants must also be able to attend bimonthly meetings located at IHSS Public Authority (12125 Day St, Suite S-101, Moreno Valley, CA 92557). Currently, meetings are held via Zoom. Members of the advisory committee shall serve without compensation, but may receive reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses as are incurred in the execution of their duties. Home care providers of IHSS Advisory Committee members who are consumers of IHSS and require assistance when attending meetings of the Committee shall receive an IHSS stipend not to exceed $75 per meeting. Members must adhere to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
The appointee will serve a two-year term, after which time he or she will become eligible for reappointment.
Flood Control Commission (1 Vacancy)
The commission’s purpose is to provide for the control and conservation of flood and storm waters and for the protection of watercourses, watersheds, public highways, life, and property from damage or destruction from such flood waters. To prevent the waste or diminution of the water supply and provide for the conservation of all or any drainage, storm flood, and other waters for beneficial use.

Planning Commission (1 Vacancy)
The Commission shall perform planning and zoning duties specified by law or ordinance not expressly delegated or reserved to another body or officer including proceedings for adopting or amending general and specific plans, changes of zone, changes of the zoning ordinance, and review of subdivision and parcel maps, and shall advise the Board of Supervisors in related matters.
Fair Board (National Date Festival) (1 Vacancy)
The Fair Board counsels and advises the Board of Supervisors as to administrative and policy matters in connection with the Riverside County’s National Date Festival. The board currently meets the second Thursday of month and goes dark in August and February. All members serve without compensation and must adhere to the Ralph M. Brown Act. Anza Valley Municipal Advisory Council (2 Vacancies)
Members of the Anza MAC serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors and advise on matters affecting the region – including, but not limited to public health, public works, welfare, safety and planning. The council's recommendations may be taken into consideration when the Board of Supervisors votes on issues pertaining to this region.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and shall maintain a residence or conduct a business within the boundaries of the said territory. Applicants also must be able to attend bi-monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm. Currently, meetings are being held at the Anza Community Hall. All members serve without compensation. Members must adhere to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
Workforce Development Board (1 Vacancy)
The Workforce Development Board shall have the following responsibilities: Provide policy guidance in the development of the five-year local workforce investment plan(Local Plan) and provide oversight on the One-Stop system, youth activities, and employment and training activities under Title I of WIA, in partnership with the chief elected official. Select One-Stop operators with the agreement of the chief elected official. Develop a budget for the purpose of carrying out the duties of the WIB, subject to the approval of the Board of Supervisors. In cooperation with the Board of Supervisors, appoint a youth council as a subgroup of the WIB and coordinate workforce and youth plans and activities with the youth council. Select eligible youth service providers based on the recommendations of the Youth Council, identify eligible providers of adult and dislocated worker intensive services and training services, and maintain a list of eligible providers with performance and cost information, as required in 20 CFR part 663, subpart E. Negotiate and reach agreement on local performance measures with the Board of Supervisors and the Governor. Assist the Governor in developing the statewide employment statistics system under the Wagner-Peyser Act; Coordinate workforce investment activities with economic development strategies and developing business linkages; and Promote private sector involvement in the statewide workforce investment system through effective connecting, brokering, and coaching activities through intermediaries such as the One-Stop operator in the local area or through other organizations, to assist businesses in meeting hiring needs. Serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors on all matters relating to employment and Training not covered by Title I of the Workforce Investment Act.
